Healthy Meal Planner

Baby Food

I wean my children anywhere from 1 year-18 months.  Weaning is definitley a process that takes a little while.  When I wean, they do not drink any form of milk.  I have seen that my children are just as healthy without cows milk then with.  If you want to add some liquids, diluted carrot juice and some for of a green drink.  I really like Barley max and Carrot Juice max from www.hacres.com.  This is a quick way to get tons of vitamins, mineral, and good sources of calcium and protein.  When introducing food, it’s good to introduce one food at a time.  Take one food/week and then you will be able to see if your child has any allergies or problems with that food.  You can look for Diarrhea, rash, cough, runny nose, and constipation as some signs of allergies.  I always introduce grains last, especially wheat.  The body has a harder time digesting certain grains, so it’s better when the child is older.

Start food (puree in blender or hand mixer):

Avocado

Banana

Apples

Peaches

Nectarines

Apricot

Any fruit in season.  The most fresh the better.

Mixed meals (I use a Vitamix and blend until it is really mixed and room temperature):

*1/4 apple (peeled), 1/2 banana, 2 Tbsp water, CarrotJuice Max or 1 baby carrot or 2 Tbsp carrot juice

*1 small banana (peeled), 1/4 avocado, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries

*1 small banana (peeled, 1/4 cup soaked rolled oats (only need to soak until soft), 4-5 frozen Apricot halfs
